A Day in the Life of Ukraine 3

November 1, 2012

Dima Ospishchev, Zaporizhzhia

Today is the first of November. Our autumn holidays finished and we went to school again. We must get up early every day again, have six or seven lessons and do our homework. The first of November this year is Thursday. It is a very difficult day for me. According to the time-table, we have seven lessons.

We have two lessons of Ukrainian literature, Russian literature, geography, chemistry and two lessons of algebra. Our teachers told us about the life and workers of Ukrainian, and about the writer, Pantelemon Kulish and the Russian writer, Zhykovsk. In our geography lesson, we talked about the oceans of the Earth, and in chemistry, we talked about chemical elements.

All of my lessons are interesting, but I like algebra most of all. After this lesson, I go home by school-bus. It leaves school at half past three p.m. and I get back home at ten minutes past four p.m.

Every Thursday I go to dance class. I do modern dances, and I enjoyed them. My studies begin at half past four; I am afraid to be late and so I hurry up very much. I come back home at half past five and must do my lessons for Friday. Friday is a very difficult school day. We have seven lessons, and they are very serious. They are physics, history, geography, biology, health and safety and English. I spent three or four hours my home tasks. On Thursday, I do not spend time outdoors.

I have no time for playing my favorite computer games and watching TV. The autumn months are September, October and November. The first of November is the first day of the third autumn month. Autumn is a beautiful season of the year. The leaves on the trees change their colors from green to brown and red. At the end of autumn, the weather gets cold in our place. The sky is grey and there are many clouds in it. The leaves fall from the trees. The days become shorter and the nights become longer. It gets colder and colder. It often rains in October and November, which makes autumn an unpleasant season.

But this year, on the first of November, the weather was sunny.

The sun was shining brightly in the blue sky, but it is not very hot. It is neither hot nor cold. There was a light wind blowing. I raised my head and looked at the sky. Most birds flew away to warm countries. I thought it was a pity that soon it would be winter. But every season is beautiful in its own way.
